Universal Sign
Language App
Project
In this 4 week collaboration project, we were placed in groups of 5 and tasked with designing a product or concept that would positively impact the world. We came up with the concept of a universal sign language, called Unity Signs, as sign languages all across the globe are very different. We decided on 25 words that would be the most beneficial, and we each did individual research on how those words are said in different countries in sign language. We were surprised that some were similar, and some were very different.

Using this knowledge, we developed our own signs for each word, some with parts borrowed from existing signs, and others completely invented by us. A huge aspect to this project was pure research about sign language in different cultures and in different languages.

Unity Signs App
The main asset that I created for this project was an app prototype for Unity Signs. In this prototype, you have 25 words that you can click on and study how to sign them. There is a video included so viewers can see how to sign the word. There is also a knowledge test where you can go and test yourself on how many Unity Signs you have learned.
